Wk8 budgeting assignment

This week I decided to compare the prices of a hummus recipe and a garbanzo bean chocolate cake at a Hy-Vee and a Walgreens. Both recipes were found on a recipe website called "Allrecipes". The recipes and prices at the two different stores are as follows. I decided to make the hummus recipe and to purchase my ingredients at Hy-Vee because the overall pricing for the recipe ingredients was generally less expensive.

The recipe for the chocolate chick pea cake is:
1 1/2 cup of chocolate chips
1 can of garbanzo beans ( $0.39 at Hy-Vee $0.99 at Walgreens)
4 eggs ( $1.19 at Hy-Vee $0.89 Walgreens)
3/4 cups of sugar ($2.89 Walgreens $1.99 Hy-Vee)
1/4 teaspoon of baking powder ($2.49 at both)

The hummus recipe is:
1 can of garbanzo beans
1 clove or garlic ( $1.85 Walgreens $1.79 Hy-Vee)
1/2 teaspoon of salt ($0.99 at both)
1 tablespoon of olive oil ($2.79 Walgreens $2.99 Hy-Vee)

I drained the chick peas and put the whole can into the blender with the garlic, salt and olive oil. Then I combined until it was smooth.

I've also never made hummus before and wanted to try it out. I did not find any significant differences in the pricing at the two stores, just the general two dollars or ten cent difference that is at any different grocery store. I was surprised that the pricing was so similar. I dint think that this will affect my shopping by changing it, but it did solidify my habits of shopping at a grocery store with more options and better quality ingredients. I saved money by purchasing the needed ingredients at Hy-Vee.
