1. Choose two recipes that you would like to prepare in this week. If you do not prepare your own meals, because you live in a dorm or sorority/fraternity, please make it up.
2. Create a shopping list for these recipes, and go to at least two different stores (one needs to be a corner/convenience store) to compare prices. Look for any sales, coupons or other money saving options.
There were differences in the prices. Fresh Tyme seems to have foods/ spices for lower prices than Whole foods. I was not surprised that I couldn't find Mustard Seeds or Hing at these grocery stores because these food items are very specific to Indian grocery stores. Yes this will influence my shopping in the future. I think I did save money, but also I had to spend that money again to get from the grocery store back to my apartment.
Here are my process pics for the pasta.
I sliced the mushrooms and added it to a pot with butter and garlic. Then I started prepared the tomato sauce using the instructions on the Wellness Mama website. Then I sliced and blanched the vegetables. Finally, I added the sauce to the pasta with the mushrooms. Then I served it with some toast.
I think the recipe turned out well. I would make this meal again, especially since I have leftover tomato sauce.
I would like to make either lemon rice or a homemade pasta sauce with vegetables.
