Final Meal

For this final Meal I was very bad at taking pictures along the process but here are a few of the ones that I was able to capture. The main meal consisted of the Spatchcock Turkey, then for sides I made green bean casserole, garlic mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, and special K bars as a dessert. First I made the turkey by cutting out the back bone and spreading out on the prepared pan of the orange slices, butter, and different spices. While the turkey was baking I boiled the back bone a long with the neck to make the gravy. After letting that boil for roughly an hour and a half I added some butter then added flour and milk until the consistency was right then salt and peppered to taste. I then boiled potatoes and mashed them up adding minced up garlic, butter, sour cream, salt and pepper to taste. Following these I also made green bean casserole and with that I used canned green beans for ease and then added them in a bowl and then added cream of mushroom and a quarter bag of french style fried onions. After mixing these together I then put them in the oven for 45 minutes then topped them with the rest of the onions and then back in the oven for 10 minutes and they were ready to serve. For the special K bars I used my aunts recipe and melted corn syrup and brown sugar together then added in the peanut butter and then added in the cereal. Following that I melted down the butterscotch, chocolate, and a little more peanut butter to top the cereal.

Overall this was a great meal for our houses friendsgiving, it was balanced enough but very fatty. This could be improved with fresher ingredients and possibly healthier option. This meal isn't something that you would want to have on a regular basis but was very satisfying given the situation. The meal all in all was successful and only took a total of 3 hours of cook time with the turkey taking a little bit of prep including the brine and carving. It was a great meal with even better people.
