Week 7: EgGs

HEY HEY HEY its Sunday night and this week its time to get a little crazy. We're leaving dinner behind us, we're not even talking lunch. That's correct, its time for breakfast for dinner.

After going out for breakfast a couple of days ago I had realized it had been much too long since I'd last made some French Toast. Created in 1874 by French chef and rodent, Ratatouille, French Toast, much like the chicken noodle soup from last week, is a power player in its own division. Climbing its way up the breakfast of champions ladder, French Toast puts a sweet and delicious flavor to a poultry covered slab of bread. I figured the sugar from the syrup would fuel my homework for the night and so began the fun.

 8 slices Texas Toast
 4 large eggs
 3/4 cup milk
 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
 Pinch of salt
 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
 Butter for the pan
Topping suggestions: Maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, brown sugar, whipped cream, fruit sauce, anything you like!

Because I'm not an absolute psychopath that can devour 8 pieces of French Toast, I dialed the recipe back just a notch and only made a half recipe. This being said I kept the rest of the ingredients the same to really ramp up that flavor because I was ready to soak my potato bread in that concoction. I first cracked the egg then added in the milk, vanilla, salt, sugar, and cinnamon. I whipped the ingredients until it was well blended and started to lather up the bread in the egg sauce. After cooking the toast on medium for roughly 2 minutes on each side, it was time to get even crazier. I bought some fresh raspberries and mashed them in a dish. I then grabbed my raspberry jam from the fridge and added just a little bit to create this amazing raspberry goop stuff, I smeared that all over the top of the French Toast, added some syrup, and went after it.

Would I cook this meal again? Absolutely. French Toast is easily one of the best breakfast meals you can make for the amount of time it takes to throw the meal together. That's the beauty of so many breakfast foods, they're cheap and easy. This meal went super well and I'm excited to eat most of it tomorrow since I wanted to have something easy to heat up. Hopefully it's not too gross in the morning. Thanks again for stopping in, see ya next time.
