Shrimp Fried Rice

I loosely followed this recipe.

First I started by cooking the brown rice in my handy dandy rice cooker, for this I add the rice and then add twice as much water as rice and then leave to cook down, while the rice was cooking I scrambled a few eggs and then set them off to the side. Following the eggs I fried up the vegetables starting with onions until they were a golden brown and then added cabbage, red pepper, and then lastly some kale. I fried all of these vegetables in sesame oil and then added a little bit of pepper and soy sauce to taste. While doing this I quickly cooked up the shrimp in butter and garlic, for this I like to do the shrimp separately because they tend to cook very fast. After the rice was fully cooked I then fried the rice in sesame oil and garlic. I added apple sauce and then some more soy sauce to taste. The apple sauce gives the rice a nice sweet and more delicate taste that balances really well with the saltiness of the soy sauce in the rice. After frying up the rice I added in the vegetables and then the fried rice was ready to serve.
