Week 7: Eggs
Omelet
Ingredients
4 eggs
1/4 small onion
1/4 large bell pepper
salt
pepper
onion powder
olive oil
butter
Process
First I diced the onion and bell pepper. Next I put a couple tablespoons of olive oil into a pan and put it on medium heat. Then I put the onion into the pan and cooked until it was getting slightly golden. Then I added the bell peppers and cooked them for a couple of minutes. After that I removed them from the heat and wiped the pan down. I added a couple tablespoons of butter to the pan and put it back on the heat. Then I cracked and whacked four eggs together. I mixed in the pepper and onion. Next I poured the mixture into the pan and sprinkled the salt, pepper, and onion powder on top. After that I waited a couple minutes for the bottom to cook. Then I folded the omelet on top of itself and let it cook for a little longer.
Reflection
I remembered from class this week that Robin said to make sure to have a lot of fat int the pan to keep the eggs from burning so I put a little extra butter in the bottom of the pan. It looked like too much but I think it worked really well. I found it really hard to flip. I tried to flip it in half but I struggled. I ended up just folding it over a couple of times. I am not really a fan of eggs so it just tasted alright to me. However, I gave the rest to my roommates and they really liked it so I'm going to call this one a success.
