Week 4: Taco Salad

In this recipe I used mostly the taco seasoning recipe from above, however I did not have some of the ingredients such as cumin and chili powder.

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 bell pepper
1/8 cup diced onion
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup lettuce
2 tablespoons sour cream
3/4 cup water
1/8 cup shredded cheese

1.  Mix all of the dry ingredients together in a bowl.

2. Slice the bell peppers and dice the onion.

4. Cook the ground beef on the stove on medium-high heat until full cooked. Drain. Add taco seasoning and 3/4 cup water, drop the heat to low and mix together until thick.

5. Mix all remaining ingredients in a bowl.

I think that the other recipes I have made so far may have been better than this one. Overall the taco seasoning was pretty good, but I think it would be interesting to see how it would have been with the ingredients I was missing. One thing I noticed was that I probably could have added more topping to the taco bowl, as it felt a little bland. One thing I forgot to make was taco sauce, which may have made it taste better. I also think that a homemade salsa could have been tasty for this dish as well. This week I incorporated slicing by slicing the bell peppers as toppings. I think that the execution was good, however I think I prefer red or green bell peppers instead of orange for tacos.
