Beef and tomato stew

I didn't really use a recipe just a recipe that I remembered from my mother making it. You can find it on youtube by searching up Beef tomato stew. Its a really basic Asian dish.

Ingredients
10 oz of Beef
2 Large Tomato
5 Tbs Soy Sauce
1/2 tsp of corn starch
1/2 tsp of ginger
2-3 pinches of salt and black pepper
1 tsp of garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
Sesame oil enough to coat the

First I chopped the onions into thin strips, then I put the pre-cubed beef into a bowl for marinating. Putting in the soy sauce, salt, pepper, cornstarch, ginger, chopped onion, garlic, and onion powder into the bowl. Mix it all together and let it rest to come up to room temperature. I then diced the 2 large tomatoes into large cubes placing them into another bowl. I then heated up the cooking bowl on high and coated the bottom of the bowl with sesame oil. Once I saw it starting to smoke a little I put all the marinated beef. Let the beef brown and get an outer crust. Once the crust forms add in all the tomatoes and let it cook. The tomatoes will eventually breakdown and stock will form. Let it simmer for 10 minutes until it becomes the consistency that you like and serve.

Overall, I did enjoy the dish, I think it could have been improved. The stew was a little bland in my opinion. I think I could have added a little more salt and pepper and adding fresh garlic will bring a more vibrant flavor to it. I also think I should have cut the tomatoes slightly larger since when cooking in the pop the tomatoes broke down and was kinda mush. I also think I might have overcooked the beef cubes also. I think I should have seared the outside then take the beef out and then put the tomatoes into the pot for it to become a stock. Then add back the beef. I incorporated the dicing technique by dicing the tomatoes.

Since I do live at home, my pantry is filled with whatever my parents have into. There is a lot of canned foods and packaged foods. Such as beans, corn, and soups. I believe I have adequate supplies to cook at home. Since there are a lot of canned good and package foods I believe I can make a dish out of it. There are also stocks in the pantry if I wanted to have a base for a soup dish.
