Classic BLT

This weekend I was craving a BLT sandwich, which conveniently I was able to fit into this week's assignment by using fresh slices of tomato. Although this sandwich does not really need a recipe as the ingredients are listed in the name, for the sake of the assignment (and because this recipe called for mayonnaise which I had never tried) I followed this recipe: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/209578/blt/
Ingredients:
-2 slices of bread
-1 tomato
-lettuce
-4 slices of bacon
-mayo (optional)
Process:
I began by heating up a medium skillet and starting to fry the bacon. While that was happening I opened my lettuce (I used pre shredded lettuce because it was cheaper for the small amount I needed) and measured out the amount I wanted

Next, I sliced the tomato into very thin slices (I do not love the taste of fresh tomato so I wanted it to be a little light) and set the slices aside with the lettuce. I then took two slices of bread and put a thin layer of mayonnaise on each, just enough to keep the bread from getting soggy. When the bacon was done I removed it from the skillet and patted off some of the excess grease and put it on the bread, followed by the L&T.
Reflection
One of my only complaints about this recipe was that as I do not own a toaster I had to use just plain bread. I thought this would be okay because I used extra crispy bacon and plenty of crispy lettuce, but the bread was still just too squishy for my liking. I could have used some work around to crisp the bread like putting it in the oven briefly or even on a hot pan. Additionally the mayo was really a nice touch and I wish I had added more. I had also overestimated how much I did not like tomatoes because the flavor was really nice and I definitely could have used thicker slices. One thing I nailed in this recipe was the crispiness of the bacon. I actually made it so well (at least by my standards) that I decided to cook more after the same way and indulge in some plain bacon. Overall this recipe was nice and simple and an absolute success and I will definitely try it again in order to perfect the few deficiencies there were this time around.
